Meningitis Information
Students need to submit verification of the meningitis vaccination just once during their enrollment at the University of Connecticut.
Fall 2007 - Spring 2008
Connecticut State law requires that any college or university student under 29 years of age residing in university owned housing be vaccinated against meningitis as a condition for living in the university’s residence halls and apartments. Meningitis immunization verification must be listed on your Health History Form. Students who have not submitted verification or an exemption form will not be permitted to check into on-campus housing.
Summer school students who are part time or non-matriculated do not need to comply with the meningitis vaccination requirements. The intent of the law was to require incoming students who are full time and or matriculated to be vaccinated (similar to the Rubella/Rubeola regulations).
There is no need to reassess meningitis vaccination compliance for continuing students. Once an incoming student has been deemed to be compliant, they remain compliant.
