McMahon Hall

McMahon Hall

McMahon has two towers, North and South. Each tower has 7 floors. McMahon has co-ed and single sex floors. Over the last two years, McMahon has had a very diverse mix of students and class standings. Each floor has a close community.

There are laundry facilities in the North and South Towers on the ground floor that are card operated washers and dryers. You use your UConn ID/Husky Bucks to operate the laundry machines. More information can be found on the One Card Office website.

Look for information and events sponsored by the Hall Council on the bulletin boards within McMahon Hall.

The room sizes for McMahon are: double room is 14' x 11'; (corner) is: 18'5" x 14'. The layout for each floor is the same, with the exception of the ground floor.

Each room comes with a student desk and chair, small bureau, and a bunkable bed (1 piece of each furniture per each student). The mattress size for the beds are 80" x 36". The beds in McMahon are bunks. The beds are not loftable and homemade lofts are not allowed in any residence hall.

History

McMahon hall was named after Brien McMahon who is remembered for being a short, well-dressed democratic senator who was an authority on atomic energy and pushed through civilian rather than military control of the Atomic Energy Commission. McMahon Hall and Dining Facility was built in 1964.
