Residence Hall Mailrooms

Address Format

• Do not include your box number in your address. This will only confuse the automated sorting machines used by the USPS.
• Your room number should be used as the street number.
• Your building name should be used as the street address.
• The words UCONN or University of Connecticut should not be used in the address format.

Mailroom Policies

• Mail will be accepted ONE WEEK prior to the start of classes in the fall, however mail and packages will not be accessible until the first day of classes.
• Mailrooms are operational when classes are in session. The hours for each mailroom are posted on the doors. If inclement weather causes classes to be canceled, the mailrooms will also close at that time.
• One mailbox is assigned to each room. Residents have access to their mailbox with either a key or a combination. Mail clerks will be happy to assist residents with combinations or box numbers, but cannot hand out mail from the mailbox to residents.
• Please have your student ID and your package slip available when picking up your packages. In order to safeguard the mail, we require the recipient of the package to pick up and sign for their own packages.
• Most mail and packages are delivered directly to the mailrooms. However, if packages require a signature (such as USPS Express Mail, USPS Certified Mail, FedEX packages, etc.), they MAY go to the Complex office or Community Center Office and be held there. In those cases, an email or package slip will be sent to inform the recipient.
