3. Duration of Contract -
C. Residents who have been found responsible for violating Responsibilities of Community Life: The Student Code, including The On-Campus Housing Contract 2007-2008, and who are removed from housing can reapply for on-campus housing after the end of the sanctioned removal period. Applying for housing at that time does not guarantee housing but places the student on the on-campus housing waiting list for the following year. These students will only receive on-campus housing on a space available basis. (Revised 10/15/07)
Rationale for the Change – In 2002, Residential Life instituted a policy based on the premise that residing in university owned housing is a privilege that should be offered to students who are responsible community members and live by the established rules and regulations. The policy found in the contract in Section 3C was instituted with the desire to be consistent in the treatment of individuals. Holding students accountable for their behavior by setting the number of violations may not appropriately address the unique circumstances of the individuals. Going forward, students found responsible for violating policies will be placed on the housing waiting list, only if they have been removed from housing as a sanction.
